How does RoxieReading differ from traditional reading programs?

We use a unique approach to teaching reading based on the way the brain processes words.

RoxieReading uses the same sequence the brain uses in processing words. This approach has been tested for nearly three decades and has been proven to produce statistically significant results. The brain uses this sequence to process words:

speech sound ▶ letter ▶ spell ▶ read

NOTE: The term GRAPHEME in the following document refers to all the letter and letter combinations that represent a single speech sound such as sh, wh, ow, etc. It is not referring to consonant blends such as st or dr or any other combination that represents more than one speech sound.

The term PHONEME refers to a single sound in speech. There are 42 – 44 speech sounds in American English, depending on where you live.
